hulu plus

This week saw a huge announcement from The Criterion Collection and hulu. Starting immediately, hulu plus will now be the streaming movie home of Criterion’s ever expanding film collection (said to be over 800 movies from their collection by the end of the year). Suddenly the $7.99 we are paying currently per month for hulu plus seems like a steal. If it weren’t for the fabulous anime series Monster (I highly, highly recommend) that we have yet to finish, we were having difficulties justifying keeping it around. With Netflix and cable on-demand, hulu plus didn’t seem to have much of a differentiator. As I’ve posted before, Criterion makes the best packaging around and its special features are incredible. I’m hoping some of that carries over. Even without all the special features, the chance to watch some of the most important and influential movies ever at a touch of a button is worth celebrating.

I’ll soon be having a new pop watch feature celebrating the best in movies, tv and games…don’t be surprised to see quite a few come from this collection…

Farnam Street Blog

Declaring their blog as “what the smartest people on the net read” is pretty high self praise. After losing hours of sleep reading an eclectic mix of interviews, articles, studies, videos, and more…I have to say they haven’t praised themselves enough. If you’re brain is itching for the most thought-provoking, conversation-starting, and absolutely-mindblowing articles…look no further. I just wish I knew about this site earlier…

The Daily What

The Daily What is one of the very few websites that I look at at least once every single day. An all-over-the-place best of the web, you are bound to find something that interests you. I’ve spent literally hours, just flipping through their archives. Always on the pulse of the next viral video, the best pics from the web, and the most interesting articles, it’s not hard to see why they are my Web Love pick of the day.

Pinterest

You know how sometimes you are surfing on the web and you find something really cool? And you bookmark it. And if you are like me, damnit, months later you can’t find that incredibly great scrap you were looking at before? If only you had a visual reference right? And, wouldn’t it be great, in the future, if you could just store or pin images you find on the web in one location that was easy to navigate, tag, sort, share. A clean and modern site that was a visual bookmarking of the web? A visual twitter of everything that you find and heart? That sounds amazing right? Well, the future is now. Pinterest is my new web love. Please make it yours and request an invite! Enjoy!
